Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh salmon fillets, skin removed
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas

(Feel free to scale up for a crowd — this is the kind of dish everybody asks for extra of.)

For the slaw

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (green, red, or a mix)
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
  • 1–2 tbsp ReemNotes Hot Pepper Vinegar (Serrano or Thai chili works beautifully)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper

Optional toppings

  • Fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges
  • Sliced avocado
  • A drizzle of ReemNotes Hot Pepper Vinegar for extra brightness

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the slaw

In a medium bowl, toss the shredded cabbage, red onion, vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Let it sit while you cook the salmon — the vinegar softens the cabbage slightly and gives it a lively bite.

Step 2: Season the salmon

Pat the salmon fillets dry. Rub each piece with olive oil, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and cumin. This creates a smoky, flavorful crust when seared.

Step 3: Pan-sear the salmon

Heat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon in the pan and cook 3–4 minutes per side, until the exterior is golden and the interior is just cooked through. Remove from heat and let rest for a minute.

Step 4: Warm the tortillas:

Quickly warm tortillas in a dry skillet or directly over a low flame. Keep them warm in a clean kitchen towel.

Step 5: Assemble the tacos:

Flake the salmon into bite-sized pieces. Layer the slaw on the tortilla, top with salmon, and finish with optional cilantro, avocado slices, and a light drizzle of ReemNotes Hot Pepper Vinegar for an added kick.

Serve It ReemNotes Style

Highlight the vinegar

A splash of hot pepper vinegar on top brightens the fish, complements the natural richness of the salmon, and adds a subtle layered heat.

Perfect for casual entertaining

Serve with lime wedges and extra hot pepper vinegar on the side so everyone can customize their heat.

Balanced flavor

Smoky salmon, crisp cabbage, and zesty vinegar work together for a dish that’s approachable but full of character.
